A single Vicarious Vision employee's work brought Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy to Switch

Excited about Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on the Switch? If so, you can thank one lone employee over at Vicarious Visions. When the game launched on PS4, he sat down over the weekend and tried to get a single level from the game running on Switch. He obviously succeeded, which lead him showing his work to the higher-ups. After seeing his work, the port to Switch was given the greenlight!

Now sit down over the weekend and try it with a bigger Activision title. This story just doesn't seem believable. Sounds like PR foolery because Activision / Blizzard's support is still being questioned. Tons of missing current Activision / Blizzard content missing from Switch but Switch ends up with the obvious port everyone seen coming. Hopefully the announcement Panic Button is doing next month will be an Activision / Blizzard game.

I don't want Panic Button making another port. All of their ports so far have been shoddy. I'd rather a developer with more game development experience make a Switch port.

Panic Button is a porting company and their porting experience on Switch has been excellent. I can't imagine any other company getting DOOM running on Switch as well as it is today. Rocket League running great and they did visual improvements over time. Motion controls they added to DOOM. Panic Button is the company you want to do the porting at this point. Saying you prefer any other random company could end up with a horrible port. They have a lot of Switch experience on major titles they are more deserving.

Yeah he said shoddy I'm like what? He either read one bad review or just never played it.

Who would you recommend instead?

I'd rather the original developer work on the port. For example, the Rocket League port looked worse than a 3DS game until the recent updates where Psyonix took ahold of the project. Why must the Switch always get treated as a second thought to the other consoles?

Doom still looks unbelievably blurry in handheld mode and still has noticable framerates issues, yet when you compare it to Resident Evil Revelations 2 which was ported by Capcom themselves, it runs at a fixed 720p image in handheld mode, usually around 45fps and just looks amazing. Capcom treats the Switch shitty in other ways, but they know how to port their games.

This is quite normal, developers attempting to port parts of games to other systems in order to prove that it can be done to the higher ups.

So... Is there any one person who might want to take a crack at Nier over the weekend? :P

I'm with you on this one plenty of content out there too more people should take a crack at things like that even if it is just proof of concept to the public that it can be done.

Do you really think they haven't tested it so far? ;) Not that there will a port, but I am sure they have looked into it!

I like this kind of story, someone taking initiative and it paying off! I've had my pre-order in for this for a couple of months now so I, for one, am very grateful to this employee for going above and beyond!

"This must be Crash Bandicoot is in Smash Bros."

This is far more Switch manpower than in EA.

I hope someone does the same with the Spyro Trilogy.
